“Now suppose the thought occurs to the monks, ‘Friends, this monk, having had a demotion transaction imposed on him by the Saṅgha, has behaved properly, lowered his hackles, mended his ways. He is asking for the rescinding of the demotion transaction. Let’s rescind the demotion transaction on him.’

“They, a faction, rescind the demotion transaction on him, not in accordance with the Dhamma. …
